The Queens Award for Voluntary Service

The work we do here at the Open Door Centre has been
recognised at the highest level by the award of the the
Queens Award for Voluntary Service
(equivelent to the MBE for Voluntary Services)

We are pleased and proud that our work
has been recognisd in this way and feel that the award
supports the values & objectives of the organisation.

Whilst it not make any difference to the day to day running
of the Centre or the services we provide it has certainly given
us a boost to think that what we do is valued by other than
the people we provide the service for.

The above picture was taken at the awards ceremony which was held in County Hall, Preston. The award was presented,
on behalf of the Queen,
by The Lord Shuttleworth KCVO, The Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire.

As part of the award, a party of 4 Volunteers and staff from the Centre were subsequently invited to attend
a garden party in the grounds of Buckingham Palace.
